WEB 110 Introduction
Hello All in Web 110 World! My name is Sara -- or "Saranoh" as my family likes to call me. I am 38.999 years old and enrolled in the Web Developer certificate program at Wake Tech. I have actually been employed in the local technology community for over 15 years now, but one thing I have learned working in this industry is that technology is constantly evolving - in order to keep up, you have to keep learning every day.
I am extremely passionate about encouraging women, especially young women, to get involved in technology careers. I volunteer with a program called ChickTech -- this organization is entirely volunteer run, and we host free technology workshops for high school girls who are interested in learning about the tech world. We try to focus on girls who might not otherwise have a lot of exposure to these types of opportunities, but all are welcome. While we have come a long way, women are still woefully underrepresented in tech! I want to see that change! It's such a wonderful, challenging, and flexible career path!
